Updates have been delayed a couple of times lately because with one distraction or another I’ve completely run through my buffer and Life Keeps Interrupting,* so the comic is on pause until November 2024 to rebuild it (I may also come back in Nov start with a couple of interstitial comics before Chapter 3 kicks off properly.) I didn’t really want to do this – I know I have neither a large nor an aggressively entitled readership, but it’s good to get into good scheduling habits – but one missed deadline is happenstance, twice is awkward, and three times feels a bit Megatokyo.**
I’m wondering if, when I come back, I should alter the way I do posts – considering monthly updates of 4-5 pages rather than the current one-a-week schedule. I realise I’m telling a fairly slow narrative story one page at a time and while I’ve found the weekly schedule generally very helpful in getting me to just Finish Pages and be realistic about not overengineering them, I don’t think it’s necessarily easy (or fun) to follow this way.
Very much welcome anyone’s thoughts on all this – I’m currently considering doing a trial “bunch of pages” update in Nov and another in Dec (when I’m back from leave I’ll update the banner, and also will finally add a cast page and a few social media links to make it easier for people to follow on their chosen social whatsit. I also plan on putting some draft images on the Tumblr at very least.)
* I was just away all weekend for a Significant Birthday, I’m currently overseas on holiday, and this coming October is going to be unusually busy at work.
