I see the word references but I don’t yet know how to correctly decode them. You made me wiki-rabbithole.

10th of Brumaire- the foggy month from the French Republic, eight days before Napoleon built a chicken coop.

Erewhon- satirical book about Society by the founder of the Butlerian Jihad, that spends good amount of time talking about machines evolving sentience (cool). And maybe her being on this street lends credence to the Juliet-is-a-machine theory, maybe not.

Don’t know if I’m reading too far into it, but Marx has an essay called The 18th of Brumaire, and Deleuze and Guattari use Erewhon’s ideas in multiple books. So these may be references to social theory. Or maybe not. I’m new here, but someone called Brozencrantz who visits post-socialist Eastern European cities absolutely might make those references.

Desiderata – just a neat word, and a street on the space station Freeside, from Neuromancer. Also the title of a Karl Popper paper from 1963 about- no, just kidding.

“Chai” stands out here because I’m pretty sure Gabriel used “tea” last chapter. Does this signal a new location in the colony, or just another colony culture?
